TRANSFER NEWS: Arsenal In For French Duo

By on May 13, 2011

Arsene Wenger has identified Lorient duo Morgan Amalfitano and Kevin Gameiro as summer targets, as he plots a summer of rebuilding at the Emirates.

Defender Amalfitano is a free agent in the summer and the Mirror reports that Arsenal have submitted a bid for the 26-year old, who is also being chased by Villa and Spanish club Sevilla.

Promising striker Gameiro has made it clear he wants to join a Champions League outfit and the 23-year old would be available for around £12million. The French international has netted 20 goals in 33 appearances for the club and looks set to leave Ligue 1 this summer.

It remains to be seem whether signing a free agent defender and a relatively un-proven striker will appease Arsenal fans after another frustrating year.

i think gameiro is a very good striker but if we would pay 13 for him why not add the 7 and get benzema if that is the correct price

Or how about both? Benzema for £12m plus Clichy. Gameiro straight swap for Chamakh and Sunu with Coquelin on loan for another season to soften the blow of losing Amalifitano. We could then recoup the £12m by selling Bendtner

So Bendtner, Chamakh, Clichy, Sunu out
Gameiro, Benzema and Amalifitano in for no deficit, sounds like good business for everyone. Switch Vermaelen to left back. By my reckoning we would still have £40m transfer budget to spend plus the £25m needed by selling what we needed to out of Almunia, Eboue, Eastmond, Squillaci, Hoyte, Denilson, Diaby, Randall, Rosicky, Arshavin, Murphy, Cruise. To buy Ashley Young(£15m) or Hazard(£20m), Inler(£10m) or Parker(£8m), Jagielka(£10m), Samba(£8m) and Vertonghen(£15m)
I am certain i read somewhere that there has been interest in Almunia, Eboue, Squillaci, Denilson, Diaby, Rosicky and Arshavin amounting in total to around £40m so we should have even more cash over to buy Oxlade-Chamberlain and Jenkinson.

u hv such a good business brain, quite a good idea n i’d love to see it happens. Anyway, i think it’s better not to buy Ashley Young, his private life is such a mess, not good for both the club image as well as club performance.

as predicted!!! interest in french freebies and another unproven striker from the french league. We’re just waiting for a couple of 16 yr old south american lightweights and it will business as usual for the coming season. Oh and with cesc gone we will pocket a net profit again.
