Real’s Refusal Leaves Door Open For Chelsea In £39m Striker Chase

By on May 27, 2011

Recently Atletico Madrid officials said that after talking with Real Madrid president Florentino Perez, they are made sure that Madrid won’t bid for their highly rated talent Sergio Aguero due to a pact between these two clubs.

A couple of days ago Aguero said that he intends to leave Atletico and join another club and likes of Chelsea and Juventus have shown interest in him. It was said that the Argentine will be the key to get best out of Torres next season if reports are to be believed. Both these players spent one season together at Atletico before Torres joined Liverpool.

But it is also said that the stumbling block between will be his high wage demands. (around £200,000 a week) and Chelsea don’t see it feasible to pay him that much. Also his £39 million buyout clause may prove to be detrimental for any transfer approach by Chelsea.

Despite all this, we know Roman can break the bank if he thinks a player is worth it and then he won’t care about the transfer fee. So we will wait and see what happens with this rumour.

Neymar would be a better fit. Neymar is more than a good striker. He attacks from midfield, usually left or right wing. His left and right versatility would equip him to alternate between Malouda and Kalou’s positions. Think of him as a striker and winger. He turns defenders inside-out, and he provides perfectly weighted through-balls. He would work well with Torres or Drogba. He is always confident, something Chelsea often lacks.

Aguaro’s buy out clause is limited to other clubs from Spain so would not even be an issue should Chelsea bid. Also Aguaro was never any good at Atletico until Torres left.

Not the best buy we could make but looks one of the more likely at the moment.

Simon Amstel, where did you hear that (just wondering). I do rate Kun high but I rate Neymar higher. Out of the three names we are linked with as striking options this summer #1 is Neymar 25-30m, #2 Aguero, and #3 is Lukaku. Personally Aguero is ready to play from day 1. Neymar could come off of the bench at first and start half way through the season. Lukaku needs atleast one year on loan if not two. However, Sturridge could easily prove to be the better EPL striker out of the bunch and he is FREE!
