TRANSFER NEWS: Striker Open To Offers

Tottenham striker Robbie Keane insists he is open to a move away from the capital and would even consider a move to the Championship.

Tottenham striker Robbie Keane insists he is open to a move away from the capital and would even consider a move to the Championship.

The out of favour forward is expected to leave White Hart Lane before the transfer ends later this month. The 31-year old has been linked with moves away from the club but speculation has suggested the experienced attacker is reluctant to move away from London. However, when asked if his preference was to stay in the capital, Keane said:

“No, I’ll move.

“I don’t know why this story keeps coming out that I want to stay in London. I’ve never said that. I’m quite happy to go anywhere.

“For me, it’s just about playing regular football and if that’s outside London I’m not too bothered.”

Keane finished the season on loan to West Ham, but was unable to prevent the Hammers from relegation to the Championship. He claims his preference would be to remain in the top flight this season, as he feels he can still do a job at that level, but he is refusing to close any doors. Keane said:

“Of course clubs have to agree a fee but, not being disrespectful at all to the Championship, if I got an option to play in the Premier League, I’m obviously going to take that.

“But there’s been no talk of any Championship team.”
