The father of Arsenal captain Cesc Fabregas has denied he was in Madrid over the weekend holding talks with Real Madrid president Florentino Perez about the possible transfer of Fabregas. How boring, but it will get worse before it gets better.

The Spanish media claimed that Francesc Fabregas attended Real’s Primera Liga game with Valencia on Sunday before holding talks with Perez.

However, Fabregas snr has once again denied the latest speculation and claims he was nowhere near the Bernabeu over the weekend.

“I was not at the Santiago Bernabeu last Sunday to speak with Florentino Perez,” Fabregas snr told the Catalan media.

“I have spent the weekend at home.”

He also denied meeting Real’s sporting director Jorge Valdano, saying:

“A meeting with Valdano? It is totally false.

“This morning (Monday), I have been walking around Barcelona with my daughter, this is the only truth.”

It is certain that the latest round of rumours wont be the last in what will be a frustrating summer for Arsenal fans. The Spanish media are doing all they can to unsettle our captain fantastic, who has always claimed he is happy at Arsenal. But that doesn’t stop them making up rubbish just to sell papers.

But i have a feeling Fabregas may look for reassurances from manager Arsene Wenger after Arsenal’s late capitulation this season. Fabregas is an ambitious boy and is desperate to win something at Arsenal. If he’s anything like the fans, he wont feel that is possible with our current crop of goalkeepers!

Will Fabregas be an Arsenal player next year? Or will the lure of the lira prove to much? Leave your comments below…
