Chelsea are locked in talks with Porto over the signing of Alvaro Pereira and are trying to force through a deadline day transfer.

Andre Villas-Boas wants to add Pereira to his squad and the Blues have already had a bid of £17.5m turned down with Porto holding out for £26.5m.

The Uruguay international is keen to link up with his former boss and move to London, and his agent has revealed Chelsea are still trying hard to strike a deal:

“I know there have been previous proposals and that the two clubs are in talks. That could be a positive sign,” Alejandro Savich told Maisfutebol.

“What I know is that Chelsea are trying. All we can do is wait. Right now, Alvaro Pereira is waiting, while the clubs talk.

“We have not spoken to Chelsea, I am not authorised to do such a thing, even because the most important thing is an agreement between Porto and Chelsea is reached.”
