Barca tempt Arsenal with sensational swap deal

Barcelona are the latest in a long line of clubs to express their interest in Arsenal’s French international full back. With Wenger known to be a particular admirer of Bojan Krkic, the Catalan giants are said to be offering the young Spanish striker plus £16 million for Clichy in attempt to coax Arsenal into selling.

Guardiola will be looking at Clichy as a long term replacement for ageing star Eric Adibal as Maxwell hasn’t managed to prove himself at the Camp Nou. Wenger, however, will be hesitant in letting go of his first-choice left back, even with the prospect of such a highly-esteemed striker coming to the north London club and the talented, young English left back Kieran Gibbs ready to slot in where Clichy leaves off.

Bojan hasn’t had much opportunity this season, starting only 12 matches in all competitions after having seen the big-money arrival of Ibrahimovic, the unprecedented success of fellow youth-team forward Pedro and the predictably sensational form of Lionel Messi.

Whether Bojan is the type of forward Arsenal should be looking to is another question though. Obviously as added incentive in any deal the transfer will prove to be an attractive one, but quite where he would fit into a team with so many world class attacking options (Van Persie, Arshavin, Rosicky, Bendtner, Wallcott, Eduardo) would be an interesting predicament for the Gunners’ boss. As such, such a move could be the catalyst for a mass of transfer market dealings involving some of Arsenal’s top players.

Despite this, with Arsene Wenger famed particularly for the youth of his team and the faith he puts in them to perform week after week, Bojan will perhaps feel this is a move that is best for his career.

Do you feel this would be a good move for Arsenal? Would Bojan fit into the squad? Please leave comments below…
