Wenger Coy Over £30m Wonderkid Speculation

By on September 15, 2011

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger was coy over speculation linking him to German superstar Mario Gotze.

Wenger had reportedly submitted a £30million bid for the Borussia Dortmund starlet in the summer and the Gunners boss failed to defuse the rumours. Asked about landing the 19 year-old whiz, Wenger replied, smiling

“That is not a question to answer just before the match.

“He is one of the best uprising talents in Germany. He is very creative. What we need to do is have him under control, not let him be dangerous.

“Germany is a strong football place, very powerful. Good players can play all over the world, that’s simple. Today there are more clubs who have financial potential to attract players who are top quality. That’s why everybody is after special qualities.”

At just 18 the attacking midfielder boasts an assist or goal in every other game for the German champions and was a constant threat during Dortmunds 1-1 draw with Arsenal on Tuesday.

This is just same rubbish. Please stop believing in such things. Under current circumstances, I am certain that we will not see such a signing at Arsenal for a foreseeable future, for simple reason that, if we are able to pay that kind of transfer fee than we will not be able to afford the high wage demand that comes along with this kind of signing. So my fellow Arsenal fans, please stop deluding and accept the reality that we have got the player we can afford. We are very slowly moving towards mediocrity of the premiership. First sign of mediocrity is when we, the fans, the board and the manager accept that getting 4th place for last so many years represent success. Second sign is when excuses are made about suger daddy at other clubs. I see no suger daddy at Man U. In fact their owners are drain to Man U. Still Fergie will not accept anything less then a title every year. He does not care about Man City or Chelsea. We are about 4th/5th richest club in the world. But out mentality is mediocre. This will finally drag us down the table , and it will be very hard to come back up again.

… and the world will stop spinning, food will run out and the sun will disappear!
Wow, the first bit of your post made sense but then you just got all depressed, seek help. Man utd can afford the wage bills for the players because they have won things which has brought in money, they spend more than they have and are in debt and have had a large stadium for many years. We are trying to compete with clubs with more financial power than us. They can afford more players every transfer window. Can you not see that? Finishing fourth or above is a successful season. Arsenal have fighting way above our weight for years and football has changed to the point that certain teams have an advantage over us. If you can’t accept that maybe you should support one of the Manchester teams. What makes you think we have a right to finish 3rd or above? Fergie hasn’t won the title every year!? WTF!? Supporting a club shouldn’t be based on them winning things. If we do finish above 4th and win something I wonder what you’ll have to say for yourself

When I read the story I was amused because Wenger in his dream cannot pay such fee for a teenager. I will not support him doing that either. There are very many able and talented youngsters Wenger has so far not utilized. At what age did Messi make waves in the football world? Let Wenger field or teenagers now for us to see them. There is no need buying for the future when the present is begging for attention.
