Manchester United’s very highly regarded young French midfielder, Paul Pogba is being linked to a loan move to Championship side Burnely after the Burnley manager Eddie Howe watched the youngster in action during a reserve game in which Manchester United defeated Fulham 2 – 0.

Pogba has the power, vision, creativity, skill and stamina to rival many a Championship player, and if Sir Alex were to let Howe take Pogba off his hands for half of the season in January, he would certainly be a very good addition to the Championship team, despite his inexperience.

A move in January would be surprise for Manchester United fans, who are looking forward to seeing him in several Carling Cup games this season in which Ferguson will add extra emphasis to the ability and depth of his young squad. The player is expected to play some part, and perhaps even start in United’s competition opener against rivals Leeds United this week.

Pogba himself is looking forward to his turn in the first team, and is as eager as ever after seeing the likes of Tom Cleverley loaned out to Wigan and return to be introduced successfully into the first team. The young Frenchman has said:

“Every day I am aiming for the first team Sir Alex gave me confidence by picking me for the pre-season game against Marseille in August. So I know I’m on the right track.Everyone at the club is great – they look after young players well. We have a laugh and there’s a special atmosphere.”

The 18 year-old is expected to break into the Manchester United first team squad in the coming years, with the United official website considering it a “surprise” as well as a disappointment if he were not to make it as a star in the squad. He has many excited around United, and has already been compared to some strong and established midfield enforcers such as Arsenal’s former captain Patrick Vieira.

A loan move may do him some good, with regular football at a higher level than United’s reserves, but it would perhaps be more satisfying and challenging for him to stay and fight to impress Sir Alex in the first team set-up, starting with a few Carling Cup games.
