Juan Mata Hits Back At Redknapp Claims

By on September 19, 2011

Juan Mata has denied Harry Redknapp’s claims that his move to Chelsea was financially motivated.

The Spurs boss admits they made a move for the Spaniard but concedes the club stood no chance after Chelsea declared their interest in signing the 23-year old. Redknapp said recently:

“We were in for Mata and close to doing a deal. But he didn’t come and Chelsea came in. Obviously they can blow you out of the water wages-wise, and then he changed his mind and they got him. It’s all about wages.”

However, Mata denies those claims.

“That’s not strictly true,” said Mata. “You can’t believe everything you read.

“The Chelsea offer was very important to me and the only one that was worth considering. I just thought it would give me the opportunity to grow as part of a big club.

“Ever since I was a young boy I have been interested in the English league and Chelsea.

“I have always understood the importance of the teams that were fighting for Premier League titles.”

Chelsea are notoriously known for their excessive wage bill, with the likes of John Terry, Frank Lampard and Didier Drogba on wages in excess of £120,000 a week.

This is a no brainer more money more chance of playing Spanish speaking manager Torres top six what more could we offer. Better style more exciting fans new outstanding training complex a new stadium on the way and lastly top four Chelsea was a better team but a fading one and Mata will be off to City in January or Madrid. Only joking Mata is outstanding d he was a constant threat at Utd i wish he had come too Spurs but iam also glad Modric stayed.. I truly believe Spurs are on the field just has good if not better with Ady being our Drogber and i cant wait to see us against a team who have still got the will too win when they are 3-0 down.

I love the originality. If Chelsea were formed in 2004 who was singing “can we play you every week” as spuds fans slipped out of Stamford Bridge before full time?

Of course a player would want to go to a club that offers better wages, that makes sense. But Chelsea are the better club of the two and so Harry is just still bitter that Modric wanted to leave, Chelsea have been in the Cl for the last 8 seasons i a row i think, while Spurs have made it once in the same time. About this little mention of how Chelsea where smashed by united, yes on the scoreline it looks like we did, which i guess is all that matters, but if you actually watched the game chelsea where more dominant and their poor defense was the only reason they lost.
