AVB Plays Down Interest In £20m Starlet

By on September 21, 2011

Andre Villas-Boas has played down speculation linking Chelsea to Everton’s gifted Ross Barkley.

The England playmaker has made three appearances for the Toffees this season and has been touted as England’s next star. Chelsea, as well as Man Utd, have been linked with a £20million move for the 17-year old, but Villas-Boas was quick to distance himself from the reports.

“People have told me he’s a good young, British talent,” said Villas-Boas.

“I really don’t know the player.”

Barkley has represented England at every level and has recently earned a call up to Stuart Pearce’s under 21 squad.
