Villas-Boas: Chelsea Youngster “Amazing”

By on September 23, 2011

Chelsea boss Andre Villas-Boas hailed Oriol Romeu as “amazing” after their Carling Cup victory over Fulham.

The youngster is a product of Barcelona’s famous La Masia academy and Villas-Boas was quick to praise the former Catalan’s performance on Wednesday night.

“Oriol Romeu had an amazing game,” Villas-Boas said.

“His ability to receive the ball is something out of this world, its extraordinary his comfort with the ball, receiving it straight from the goalkeeper under pressure. You saw that led eventually to a ball loss but that is the risk you take when you build from the back.

“It shows that the school where he is from is fantastic and shows that he can play in the Premier League.”

Romeu made his senior debut for the Blues last night after arriving from Barcelona in the summer for a fee thought to be around £4.8million.
