Chelsea To Miss Out On Brazilian

Thiago Silva

By Football Talk.

The agent of reported Chelsea target Thiago Silva had denied speculation linking his client with a move to England, insisting he wants to stay at AC Milan. Recent newspaper reports had suggested ex-Milan boss, and current Chelsea supremo, Carlo Ancelotti was interested in bringing the 25-year-old defender from the San Siro to Stamford Bridge this summer.

However it seems these stories were wide of the mark, as Paulo Fernando Tonietto says he has not been in contact with anyone associated with Chelsea and Silva intends on seeing out his current contract until 2013.

“Thiago Silva is very happy at Milan and he wants to honour his contract,” Tonietto told calciomercato.it. “Galliani says he is not for sale and he is the boss.”

“I know nothing because if there was a team interested in Thiago they should contact AC Milan, I am just his agent.

“I can only say that Ancelotti knows him well, and not only him.

“I think that Thiago Silva is the best defender in the world and these stories are further evidence of his good work this season.”

Silva had been linked with a possible double transfer deal that involved Brazilian striker Pato also making the move to Stamford Bridge. It remains to be seen whether Chelsea test AC’s resolve in the summer with any formal bids, amid reports of financial difficulties at the Milan giants. With the financial muscle at Ancelotti’s disposal after owner Roman Abramovich willing to loosen the purse strings once more, Milan may find it difficult to turn down any substantial bids for their star pair.
