De Gea Can Be “One Of The Best”

By on September 27, 2011

Manchester United stand-in captain Patrice Evra believes David De Gea’s confidence is growing with each passing game and that the young Spaniard has a big future at Old Trafford.

The former Atletico Madrid shot-stopper made an unconvincing start to life in England; making two high profile gaffes against rivals Manchester City and West Bromwich Albion at the beginning of the season.

However, the 20-year-old was on hand to keep Stoke City at bay on Saturday, as United came away from the Britannia Stadium with a point, and Evra was quick to praise his team-mate for his display and contribution to the draw before claiming the United number one can be one of the games best for years to come.

“Our goalkeeper was superb,” Evra told MUTV.

“David is doing very well. His confidence is going up. You can see when he makes a great save, all the players are very happy for him.

“We are all behind him and support him. He had a difficult start, but if you see the game against Chelsea (last weekend), he made some great saves and here he made some great saves.

“I am really confident in him. I am looking forward and he can be one of the best.”
