Collymore: Bellamy Is Bad News For Carroll

By on September 28, 2011

Former Liverpool striker Stan Collymore feels Craig Bellamy’s arrival will give fewer opportunities to £35million forward Andy Carroll.

The target man has failed to find his feet since his switch to Anfield in January, and Collymore believes the arrival of the controversial Bellamy will spell bad news for the out of form England international. Collymore explained in his column for the People:

“Bellamy has reached a point in his career where he wants to make the most of the time he has left in the game and enjoy his football. He won’t play every week but he will get games now under a manager he has huge respect for. Bellamy will happily work his socks off for Kenny Dalglish.

“And as a result of him being at Anfield, I think Andy Carroll is going to spend much of this campaign as an observer.

“There’s no doubt Carroll will become a top player, but there is no panic. Liverpool can afford to wait for him to peak in two or three years.

“It’s different with Bellamy. He can go straight into that line-up, link up perfectly with Luis Suarez, and add the X Factor to Dalglish’s side.”

Carroll has scored just three times since his switch from St James’ Park in January.

Collymore doing what he does best, saying nothing worthwhile. I’m convinced the man is an idiot just in the media to get headlines when he can.

Old school thinking I’m afraid. Football is a squad game these days. Shame he didn’t realise that when he was a player he maybe would not have sulked so much.

I honestly dont see the big deal on everyone moaning about Andy Carroll. Just like everyone was full of praise last year when he scored two fantastic goals against Man City, people werent complaining then. He will gel and it will take time because he is young and wants to make his mark. People need to realise football needs patience not a slap in the face. His critiscm is unfounded and disgraceful after less than 10 games into the premier league season quite frankly. Also if Stan Collymore had a valid point he wouldnt be on channel 5 the idiot!

Yes True. My English team is Liverpool. Had all the kits as a lad. The CROWN Paints , ThE cANDY Grey one. Those were the days.Nothing like ripping a few banakhcds with Zadie Sayed in the Twighlight on the Lenz High Courts. The Neon Donnay, Oakleys, the agassi tekkies.. A memory on the man. Lenz High Open 1994. Semi Final . Zadie Sayed vs Ashy vadalia (the number 1 seed)a set and 5-1 three match points down. Zadie Sayed beat the owe. Repeated the feat later to play no.2 singles for Lenz High with Me. That Vadalia owe could never beat him.For Me my triumph was IMAGE IS EVERYTHING .as long you looked good on the court. He only ever beat me once On the Topic of the Ball Zadie Sayed is the only owe I know to have worn a Liverpool Kit with the Man Utd badge faded into the stripes. He said he sourced it from Thailand or Dubai or something. The man is a legend and He is a ABU- I phoned him. his Prediction Liverpool 3 Man utd OSWOOSH

i think stan collymore is talking sense and he is not saying anything negative about carrol but just stating he is out of form, and is complimenting bellemy’s desire and motivation under kenny, so whats all the hoo-haa about?

colly sometimes speaks abit of sense, but he is far off the mark,we have more options for different situations now, we have 4 different quality strikers, 2 with plenty of time on there side, saurez is gona have a bad patch or injury (hope im wrong)and carroll is getting there.more effort and confidence is showing. so colly get your haed out your arse. a sunday league player has just given u some facts

Why is everyone slating Collymore. He is only stating the obvious. Bellamy at the moment can start some games ahead of Carroll because he is overall a better player than Carroll atm. Carroll is taking time to gel, yes, but their are times where we need a little more speed upfront tactically. Suarez with his through balls will work perfectly for Bellamy since he can be a player that can run off the last man.
