Liverpool Youngster: “The Manager Told Me To Go And Express Myself”

On-loan Liverpool youngster Jonjo Shelvey was delighted with his goal-scoring  Blackpool debut.

The 19 year-old has been borrowed from Liverpool on a short-term basis, and started his spell at Bloomfield Road with a sensational display against Bristol City on Saturday.

The midfielder scored a brilliant 35-yard free-kick as the Tangerines destroyed their West Country opponents 5-0, and Shelvey was over the moon with his man of the match performance.

‘The day couldn’t have gone any better for me, it was perfect’, he told Sky Sports.

‘It is definitely the furthest out I’ve ever scored from in a professional game.

‘I try stuff like that quite often, though. I have tried lobbing the keeper from the halfway line a few times, and hopefully I’ll be able to do one of those at Bloomfield Road.

‘The manager just told me to go and express myself, which is what I like to do.’
