Chelsea manager Carlo Ancelotti has admitted for the first time his admiration for Liverpool striker Fernando Torres prompting rumours that The Blues will try and tempt the Spaniard to West London come this summer.

The newly crowned Premier League champions are rumoured to be in the hunt for a prolific goal scorer to partner their Golden boot winner Didier Drogba who netted an impressive 29 Premier League goals during the campaign. Incidentally Drogba admitted earlier this week he would love the Liverpool front man to adorn the blue shirt of the champions and would relish some healthy competition.

“Every time there is a new player coming here it’s making the club bigger and giving us a lot of strength.” said Drogba.

“If there is a chance for him (Torres) to come he will be welcome, because any help is welcome.”

The Ivorian’s comments are clearly shared by his manager Carlo Ancelotti. However the former Milan boss acknowledged that talk for potential transfer targets is not of his immediate concern.

“It’s not only Drogba – I would like to play with Torres.” Ancelotti stated

“He is a very good player. But this is not an issue for now. He is a Liverpool player and is a good striker but we have two fantastic strikers and this is not for this moment.”

The Italian is currently preparing his side for the FA Cup final on Saturday. The club could clinch the league and cup double for the first time in their 105 year history. Chelsea take on relegated Portsmouth, where former Blues boss Avram Grant will go head to head with his former employers where he is still clearly respected by the Chelsea hierarchy after guiding them to their one and only Champions League final in 2008. Ancelotti paid testament to The Pompey boss.

“Avram is a very good coach.” He said.

“He was here in Chelsea for one year and did a very good job. And also this year, Portsmouth have had a difficult year but he did well to take them to the final and get his players to go out with strong, strong motivation.”
