Reports in Italian newspaper Daily Tuttosport are linking Arsenal with a move for Bologna keeper Emiliano Viviano. Viviano is 24-years-old and was a stand-out performer in a struggling Bologna side this season. He is co-owned by Inter Milan and also spent four seasons at Brescia. At 6ft 4in, he certainly has the height and presence Arsenal fans are looking for and is reported to have very good technique and positional sense, as well as being a penalty expert.

Viviano is regarded as one of Italy’s most promising young goalkeepers back in his homeland and Fiorentina have also been linked with a move. He is the latest in a long, long, long line of goalkeepers throughout-out Europe who is being touted as the new Arsenal No1, and i must say so far he is the most disappointing, which means he’s probably the most realistic to sign.

I can’t comment on the bloke too much as I’ve never heard of him until this morning, but he’s certainly not the player i hoped Wenger would be looking at. He may be amazing, i really don’t know, but in my opinion Arsenal don’t need any more uncertainty surrounding the goalkeeping position. We need a player to come in, know exactly what he’s doing, who the fans all know and already respect. We need a player with a ready-made reputation among the Arsenal faithful.

This is most likely just another shot in the dark by the media and Arsene has no interest in him at all. I can’t see him buying a goalkeeper unless it’s someone who is established already as a top class stopper. He would be better off sticking with the chuckle brothers in goal next season.

Stay tuned for more transfer rumours as the players linked to Arsenal become more ridiculous and unlikely by the day.

fab, As long as we get “A” new Keeper then I will be halfway to happiness. Wenger has dropped hints many times before that he is going to
ditch his “Personal Policy for Arsenal” but, this time it does somehow sound true but, if he is going to go in for a Keeper then I can see it being more along the lines
of Chappy from Bologna rather than the Top Class Paul Hart. Just so he can say “I told you I didn’t have to bring in a big name”.

Wenger has played this fiddle ever since going nut’s and getting rid of Gilberto for no apparent reason and replacing him some time later with Denilson.
(Yes the same Denilson who the 30yrs old + Ref ran past in the game v Utd for Rooney’s goal).

I find it hard to even think about our beloved Arsenal right now with what Wenger has done yet again for the 3rd year running.
Even in the darkest days when I can remember us finishing 8th 9th I still didn’t feel this badly cos that’s how it was but,

Wenger, could of brought people in like Shay Given, Papa Buba Diop, even Kevin Nolan would of done a job for us this year
but, no…. Policy after policy and i’m fed up with it. I want him to do his normal thing which is.

Feed us BS till just before the season starts then tell us that we have Bendtner & how much Fabi & Almunia have improved. At that point hopefully he will get the sack and make way for a real man who has no personal issues mixed in with running the Club I love and support with my hard earned cash.
