Arsenal Transfer News: Prolific German Linked With Gunners

By on November 1, 2011

The German media are reporting that Arsenal have sent representatives to watch the former Bayern Munich attacker Lukas Podolski with the potential of a January swoop.

The 26 year-old, who plays for FC Köln is, like van Persie, in top form having scored eight goals in 11 Bundesliga games for his club. Köln are not in the Champions League, so Podolski would not be cup-tied and would be eligible to contribute to Arsenal’s European campaign.

The acquisition of an attacking player such as Podolski may seem strange considering the competition for places up front, with van Persie, Gervinho, Park and Chamakh all vying for places, however, the German international has becomes accustomed to playing out on the left wing for his country. However, Podolski’s club have made it a priority to begin talks to extend his contract before Christmas of this year, with the players current deal expiring at the end of next season.

It is an interesting rumour, and with many others soon to follow as the January transfer window approaches, it looks like it could possibly be another busy transfer window for Arsenal. Then again, this happens every year…

Wenger should ‘ve gone for Podolski for a very long time. He will be a good buy.

RVP needs someone to pair with upfront. Chamakh is a waste upfront whilst Gervinho is a provider. Remember Aguero, Dzeko, Silva and Baloteli are all in the City team in addition to Tavez.

Podolski is an amazing player with great experience and who is also a goal scorer…if Wenger buys him, he will be an amazing signing which could become a legend in Arsenal

Arsenal should retain all their stars in order to maintain the form and improvement. Instead of selling van persie, another striker should be added to the team. Mind you that is the only senior experience player we have in the team.
