Chelsea & United Battle For £8m African Stopper

By on November 8, 2011

Chelsea boss Andre Villas-Boas is ready to go head-to-head with Sir Alex Ferguson for Udinese defender Mehdi Benatia.

The Morocco international has confirmed this will be his final season in Udine, and has already welcomed interest from Manchester United and PSG in recent days.

The versatile defender is renowned as a centre half, but can also play in defensive positions left and right of midfield. The 24-year old is expected to fetch for around £8 million when he leaves next summer and both Chelsea and United will be battling it out for his signature.

Happy to see the headline but immensely disappointed when I saw “Next Summer” somewhere along the lines. Utd need a top defender here and now. Period. Oh no, a central midfielder who can occasionally make a forward pass. Utd’s current midfielders seem to have Rugby rules in mind when playing: No Forward Pass please.
