Ex-Chelsea Coach – I Fear Spurs Will Lose Bale To Barca

By on November 12, 2011

Former Chelsea No2 Ray Wilkins believes Tottenham may struggle to resist a major offer for Gareth Bale, with Barcelona the latest club linked with a move.

The Welsh midfielder has been linked with a mega money move to reigning La Liga champions Barcelona with many reports suggesting a £35m bid may be tabled in January and the Sky Sports pundit admits he would be surprised if Spurs turned down a bid from the Catalans.

“When someone like Barcelona sits up and takes notice it makes you realise that you are playing some good football, and Gareth Bale is playing some extraordinary stuff,” Wilkins told talkSPORT.

“Coughing up £35million is a lot of money. In the January transfer window it will be very interesting to see if Tottenham can turn that down as it is an extreme amount of money.

“Barcelona are the best footballing team on the planet but would Gareth Bale be going there to play league football or Champions League football? That’s the question.

“Unfortunately, Spain now has taken over the mantle of Scotland and there are only two teams that can win the title, Real Madrid and Barcelona. The rest are easy games [for those two].”

Bale himself has admitted recently that he would be open to a move abroad.

“very interesting to see if Tottenham can turn that down as it is an extreme amount of money” After holding on to Modric why would Spurs, sell Bale in January with little chance of a replacement? Money is obviously not what spurs are looking for. they want success and will fight to keep players to ensure this ambition is realised.

Yet another ploy to distract attention from the increasingly weakened Chelsea team, feeble new manager & corrupt captain.

Makes me laugh Wilkins just wants to see spurs weakened , we wont sell because we don’t need to , Wilkins said we would struggle to keep Modric and we did why does he think we have to sell ? , he’s always of the opinion we have to sell our best players, yet if you look at the league table we have the same points as Chelski and we have a game in hand, this bloke should learn to keep his biased opinions to himself, maybe Barca might want to buy Torres .

Ordinarily I enjoy Wilkins’ analyses of all things footy but he clearly has a poor understanding of the Primera…All the other matches are ‘easy’??

Between the media trying to sell our players(Sandro, Bale, Modric, VdV) off, opposing players cum pundits(Gerrard) trying to push Harry away & now we have the Chelsea sucking morons trying to unsettle our players from other directions as they know that Chelsea are on the slide
It may be a comliment but I never hear these morons saying the same about other “Top Six” club players.

*** OFF Wilkins!!!!: everyone thought you were a wonderful player but IMHO you wre just a good hardworking plodder.

A lot of you wont remember it but Chelsea were ABSOLUTE RUBBISH and our feeder club for nearly 50 yrs but it looks like the Chelscum haven’t forgotten.
