Mario Gotze Speaks Out On Arsenal’s Interest

Borussia Dortmund’s 19 year-old German midfielder, Mario Gotze has spoken of the interest Arsenal have shown in signing him and says it doesnt affect him.

Borussia Dortmund’s 19 year-old German midfielder, Mario Gotze, will not be distracted by interest from tonights opponents Arsenal, as the Budesliga team prepare to take on the London side in the 5th game of the Champions League Group F.

Arsenal are among a number of high profile clubs interested in signing the exciting young talent, with Arsene Wenger apparently already failing to sign him in a £35 million bid during the summer. The attacking midfielder said:

“I’ve heard the rumours from the Premier League, but I never let that affect me. I’m only focused on Dortmund, now more than ever.”

“We need to win [against Arsenal] and that’s our objective.”

Meanwhile, the Dortmund manager, Jurgen Klopp is equally calm and composed abou the future of his star, ruling out any possible sale of Gotze in the January transfer window to any of the big clubs chasing his signature. He insisted:

“Nothing can happen in January. It’s not a problem. Arsenal is only about 10 per cent of what is written in Germany, so it’s not a problem.”

Apparently, Bayern Munich are interested in him. He scored one against Bayern Munich and I will be happy if he wins against Arsenal.

“Nobody buys a player from Borussia Dortmund just like that. Not even Arsenal. Luckily, his focus is not an issue. He’s very relaxed about that.”

Considering Arsen Wenger’s history in the January transfer window, it was unlikely that the Arsenal manager would consider making such an audacious attempt at signing such a sought after player with such a large price tag anyway. Any move will most likely occur this summer, although with the options Gotze has at his disposal including Real Madrid and Bayern Munich, Wenger will have a tough job in persuading the youngster to the Emriates.
