In the first England training session for the 2010 World Cup, England Captain Rio Ferdinand has been ruled out of the World Cup following a tackle with Emile Heskey in which he has injured his left knee.

No news on how severe the injury is have been revealed but it will be a massive blow for Ferdinand and England who was seen leaving the hospital on crutches earlier today.

Michael Dawson is expected to fly out to South Africa in the next 12 hours to replace the injured Manchester United defender.

The news that Ferdinand will not be able to take part will give England boss Capello a major selection headache ahead of the first game against the USA.

Should he go with King, Upson or Dawson?

You go with King, then Dawson, then Upson.

Are we forgetting Carragher? He brought him in for situations like this. King’s likely to break down if he plays.

Yes, we are forgetting Carragher! I would go King, Carragher, Dawson, Upson.

But I’m sure Upson and Dawson are the other way round in the manager’s mind.
