REPORTS: Chelsea Line-Up Shock Move For Arsenal Ace Frimpong

By on December 1, 2011

Premier League rivals Chelsea are thought to be lining up a move for Arsenal youngster Emmanuel Frimpong, according to reports today.

Frimpong has burst on to the scene this season with some impressive displays for the Gunners, most notably during Arsenal’s 1-0 Carling Cup defeat to Man City this week. The Ghanaian has endeared himself to the Arsenal faithful with his energetic style of play in the centre of midfield and has drawn comparisions to fellow countryman and Chelsea ace, Michael Essien.

Many feel Frimpong will push Alex Song for a first team spot in the defensive midfield role this season, but Andre Villas-Boas has identified the the 19-year-old as a potential replacement for Essien, who is out with a serious knee injury. Obi Mikel has disappointed in the holding role so far this term, and AVB is keen to add to his option in that department and is reported to be willing to test Arsenal’s resolve with a £10m January bid for Frimpong.

It remains to be seen whether the player would be interested in a move to Stamford Bridge as he has recently declared him love for the North London club, and revealed his gratitude to Arsene Wenger for giving him a first team chance.

Fringpong has previously said they’d have to physically carry him out of Arsenal if they ever want him to leave.

He’s going nowhere. Gooner for life!
