The short list for the FIFA FIFPro World XI 2011 has been announced with 55 players in the running, the winning team being announced at the FIFA Ballon d’Or in Zurich on 9 January 2012. Not surprisingly, La Liga has the most nominations with 22, closely followed by the Premier League with 18.

Man Utd lead the way with 6 nominations, with Chelsea on 5 and Man City with 4. Arsenal, Liverpool and Tottenham complete the list with 1 each. Here is a breakdown on the English-based players selected:

Goalkeepers:

Defence:

  • Nemanja Vidic (Man Utd)
  • Patrice Evra (Man Utd)
  • Rio Ferdinand (Man Utd)
