Liverpool are lining up a January move for Crystal Palace striker Wilfred Zaha, according to reports this weekend.

The young forward has been in impressive form for Palace this term, and it’s believed several clubs had scouts run the rule over him during the Championship sides 2-1 Carling Cup victory over Man Utd at Old Trafford on Wednesday.

Liverpool are just one of a number of Premier League clubs interested in the player but have been so impressed they are ready to start the bidding with a £5m offer for the 19-year-old, although that could increase to £8m with various add ons.

Kenny Dalglish and Damien Comolli have recruited several exciting youngsters in the last 12 months as part of a redevelopment of the clubs youth set up, and Zaha would be another example of their new strategy.
