Cahill Transfer Latest – Chelsea Play Trump Card To Force Move

Chelsea have offered Josh McEachran to Bolton in an attempt to push through a £7m January deal for Gary Cahill, according to reports today.

Chelsea have offered Josh McEachran to Bolton in an attempt to push through a £7m January deal for Gary Cahill, according to reports today.

The Blues are responding after it was reported yesterday that Tottenham are trying to hijack their move for the England stopped, by making a slightly higher offer of £8m, £1m more than it’s thought Chelsea are prepared to pay.

However, Andre Villas-Boas is hoping the inclusion of Josh McEachran on loan for the rest of the season will temp Bolton into accepting their lower bid.

The highly rated 18-year-old midfielder has only made four appearances at Stamford Bridge this term and only one of those coming in the Premier League. Therefore Villas-Boas is happy for the youngster to gain first team experience during the second half of the season, and hopes Bolton are willing takers as part of the Cahill deal.

Tottenham may yet try and gazump Chelsea once more, by offering a ready-made replacement in Sebastien Bassong as part of their package.

The Cahill transfer saga looks like it has some time yet before it’s finally done-and-dusted.
