“Tottenham Are Capable Of Winning The Premier League”

By on December 8, 2011

Liverpool great Graeme Souness has talked up Tottenham’s chances of winning the Premier League Title this season, describing them as ‘the real deal’.

Tottenham are on a record run of 10 wins from 11 matches and currently sit third in the league, seven points behind leader Man City and only two points off second placed Man Utd, with a game in hand over both sides.

While London rivals Arsenal and Chelsea have struggled during periods of the season so far, Spurs have look odds on for a top four finish at least, something Harry Redknapp would surely have taken at the start of the season.

However Souness feels Tottenham should be aiming higher than just a top four placement, and thinks if they can sustain their current for, they have what it takes to push City and United all the way for the title this season.

‘I think Tottenham are the real deal,’ he told TalkSport.

‘The real deal is capable of winning the Premier League. If you were saying the Premier League is going to end in ten games time you would be saying, ‘can you write Tottenham out of it?’ No.

‘Whether they can sustain it throughout let’s see but, when you see Tottenham play, no-one would want to play them at White Hart Lane any time soon, not with the way they are playing.

‘This is the best Tottenham team I’ve ever seen.’

I can only say that Sourness is right because Spurs teams in the past have flattered to deceive. Something has changed at WHL this season, they have developed a steely determination to go with the smooth rytham of play that is the hallmark of Spurs and has the opposition fearful of whats to come. I guess the two Arse fans Pritpal and his mate Vishal are not old enough to have seen the superb Spurs sides of years gone by and can only comment on what they know but their envious comments suggests that they dont like what they are seeing or hearing and it’s about time that they realise that there could be a very big turn around in North London football fortunes. Perhaps Spurs will be labled lucky as the Arse have been for so many years.

Spurs are on fire right now, but we saw at the start of the season what happens if they get a few injuries. They got shat on by the manchester clubs.

Spurs are better than Chelsea, liverpool and arsenal but still not as good as City or United. Their a good bet for 3rd.

Gio, it wasnt injuries that made Spurs perform so badly the first two games of the season against the two Manchester clubs, it was more a case of an unbalanced side. They didnt have Parker or Adebayor available then and neither did we have Modrics undevided attention to the team, his mind apparently was elsewhere. Since then however, we are seeing a very different Spurs, one that is more balanced and connected, a determination not seen before from a Spurs side. That has made a massive difference to how were performing now. We shall see later on in the season if either of the Manchester club can repeat those score lines barring injuries of course and whether We will have a new striker to take Ade’s place against City as he wont be allowed to play against his parent club I understand.
