The Spanish midfielders Arsenal career has been at the forefront of all transfer speculation this summer, with Barcelona determined to bring the skillful young talent back to home soil. It has been no secret that Fabregas wants to rejoin his boyhood team at some point in his career but for me it’s unlikely he will leave the North London club in the summer transfer window. The only way I can see him leaving is if Barcelona offers at least £60 million for his services, and considering they are rumoured to be in a large amount of debt, this seems to be highly unlikely.

If the move actually materialises, one would have to say, it would be a foolish choice as I’m sure his role for the 2009 Champions League winners would be far less influential than the one he currently has for the Gunners. With several inspirational star players, Cesc will find it extremely difficult to obtain the captains armband at the Nou Camp with the likes of Carles Puyol, Xavi, Andres Iniesta, Lionel Messi, Gerard Pique and Victor Valdes more likely to lead the team out. However, football is all about making history and I’m sure Fabregas has the ability to become a legend for any team in the world.

In my opinion, the midfield maestro should stay at the Emirates for at least one more season as I’m sure his chances of leading Arsenal to some long deserved silverware are much more certain than in previous years. In the heart to heart conversation Fabregas was reported to have had with Arsene Wenger, one can only hope that the Frenchman tried to convince Cesc that glory is on its way.

With around £40 million made from the sales of Adebayor and Toure, and possibly a little extra to spend for strengthening the squad, it seems the future for Arsenal could be bright. The arrival of Marouane Chamakh will reinforce the attacking options with a much-needed aerial presence that the Gunners have lacked for quite some time. The current big man target for crosses is the Great Dane Nicklas Bendtner, who has a lot of potential but has a long way to go before becoming the finished article. Chamakh will provide the predator like instincts that Robin van Persie will thrive off playing behind and could possibly forge a very dangerous attacking partnership.

The Arsenal defence needs most of the reshuffling over the summer, as conceding a number of goals was a big problem last season. Laurent Koscielny looks like he could be on his way to the Emirates and I’m sure Wenger has his eye on at least another two central defenders which will help to bring the much needed physicality to the squad. Another keeper looks to be on the cards too as replacing the questionable quality of Manuel Almunia and Lukas Fabianski is a priority.

The promise of a big name signing is something most Arsenal fans are used to hearing from Wenger but according to reports it looks as if Joe Cole could be heading to the Emirates as contract talks with Chelsea have broken down. The addition of Joe Cole would be an extremely positive one and it would be useful for attempting a serious claim for trophies next season.

If these transfers were to fall into place I’m sure Arsenal will be celebrating the arrival of silverware come next term, considering how close they came with such an injury savaged squad full of so-called ‘short’ players last season. Taking all of this into account, Arsene Wenger’s attempts to reassure Fabregas that the Gunners will be cheering for glory next season should be a relatively easy task, and for me, the Spaniard would be a fool to leave.

Should Cesc stay at least another year? Please leave your opinions below…
