Arsenal Transfer News: Wenger Linked With €8.5m Argentinean Striker

By on December 20, 2011

Arsenal have identified Anderlecht striker Matias Suarez as a potential January signing, according to several reports.

Arsene Wenger sent scouts to watch Anderlecht’s home game against Lokern on Sunday, with many initially indicating they were there to watch long-term target Lucas Biglia. However, it became apparent the Gunners were in fact running the rule over Suarez.

Wenger has recently admitted he may need to dip into the January transfer market to strengthen his attacking options due to the departures of Gervinho and Marouane Chamakh to the African Cup of Nations, and reports claim Suarez is high on his wish-list.

The Argentine has been in good form this season scoring 14 goals in 25 matches and can play anywhere across the front line, so his versatility will appeal to Wenger. So too will his price-tag, with his contract running out in 2013 the 23-year-old will command a fee in the region of €8.5m.

Let’s be honest the only reason that everyone will want podolski instead is because noone has seen this bloke. I don’t care who we sign as long as he is successful.

podolski was shockingly poor against munich recently and got substituted. maybe he’ll od good with better players around him but for the money köln are looking for, i just don’t know…

Is he any good? I take it he was so so to end up in Belgium. Had he been any better Italy, Spain would have been the destination. But then Kops got Suarez in Holland which is not the massicve league. Hope he is decent and we can have more than Van Persie. Podolski should not be all end all.
