Arsenal are prepared to sell Andrey Arshavin this January, with Zenit St Petersburg’s director confirming their interest in signing him.

The Russian captain has been a bit-part player this season for the Gunners and has struggled to find the form that lead to Arsenal paying a reported £16m for his services in 2009.

The 30-year-old has managed just six starts this season and could be tempted by a return to his homeland, with Zenit Director Igor Korneyev confirming they would be interested in doing a deal:

“We are always interested in Arshavin,” Zenit director Igor Korneyev told Sovietsky Sport.

“But I can neither confirm nor deny whether we have made an offer.”

A source went on to tell Sovietsky Sport that Arsenal were “ready to enter negotiations for Arshavin” this January as manager Arsene Wenger looking to cash-in on the midfielder in order to generate extra funds for him to spend in the transfer window, with a striker and full back top of his priority list.
