Harry Redknapp – ‘I’d Be Bored As England Manager’

Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp has revealed he feels he would be “very bored” being England manager, but conceded it would still be a difficult position to turn down.

Redknapp has worked miracles at White Hart Lane during the last 3 seasons and the Spurs boss is red-hot favourite to replace Fabio Capello after the up-coming Euro 2012 Championships, with the FA already having stated they would like an Englishman at the helm this time round.

However, Redknapp has stressed he enjoys working with his players on a day-to-day basis and thinks he would find it difficult to only see his players every six weeks, claiming he would get “very bored”.

Despite this, the 64-year-old went on to say he would still find it very difficult to turn down a job that he describes as the “pinnacle for any Englishman”. Speaking to BBC Radio 4, Redknapp said:

“I enjoy the day-to-day coming in to work with players, going out on the training pitch every day, seeing the players,”

“I don’t know if seeing players once every six or seven weeks….it would be different for me and I would find it very difficult.

“I would be very bored, I imagine.

“I’ve always said it’s the pinnacle for any Englishman to manage their country.

“When Fabio Capello finishes, I would like to see them give it to an Englishman.

“If it came along, it would be difficult to turn it down for any Englishman.”
