Man Utd edged a thrilling FA Cup tie, beating 10-man Man City 3-2 at the Etihad Stadium. Wayne Rooney headed United ahead early on before the turning point in the game arrived, when referee Chris Foy showed City captain Vincent Kompany a straight red card for a challenge on Nani, replays suggesting it was a harsh decision.
The visitors then took control of the game and went into the break 3-0 up thanks to further goals from Welbeck and Rooney. However, City produced a spirited comeback getting back in the game via Koralov and Aguero, with both sides having good penalty appeals turned down.
