Tottenham Hotspur manager Harry Redknapp has confirmed his interest in signing Marseille striker Loic Remy.

The talented Frenchman has been strongly linked with Arsenal in the past, but after tracking him for over 18 months it’s Spurs who are now leading the race to sign the 25-year-old.

Redknapp is keen to add a new striker to his ranks with Roman Pavlyuchenko likely to depart this month, and the Englishman has confirmed Remy is a player they are keeping tabs on. When asked about reports linking him with the Marseille man, Redknapp said:

“He’s a good player. He’s a player we like and there’s interest there.”

Reports have claimed that Spurs chairman Daniel Levy has already opened talks with Marseille, but the French club are holding out for £22m. However, it’s believed Levy has so far offered just £7m plus Pavlyuchenko.

While Marseille are willing to consider selling Remy, they are under no pressure to sell at a reduced rate, especially considering their qualification to the knockout stages of the Champions League.
