Tottenham, QPR and PSG have been boosted in their attempts to sign Blackburn defender Chris Samba, after the player admitted he wants to leave the club this month.

Spurs have been linked with Samba in recent weeks with Harry Redknapp confirming he’s a fan of the giants defender. Reports today suggest Tottenham have submitted a £7.5m bid for the centre back, with both QPR and PSG also thought to be interested.

The trio will be happy to learn that Samba feels the time is right for him to move clubs after over 4 years with Blackburn. Speaking to L’Equipe he said:

‘Lately, mentally, it has been difficult,’ said Samba. ‘I tried to maintain my level of performance, but I sense that it is time for a change. The club doesn’t evolve at all. I’m resigned.

‘I’ve always put the interests of the club before my own. I’ve invested a lot, always tried to lead by example, but things have not gone as I was told. I hope people will understand me.’

However, when quizzed on reported interest from PSG, Samba said he wasn’t aware of anything concrete but admits he’s flattered to be linked with them and he’d jump at the chance to “return home”:

‘In any case, it’s flattering. The club has reached another level, it’s not the PSG of a few years ago.

‘There are Leonardo, Ancelotti … I’m sure they will bring in great players. We shall see if the interest is confirmed or not, but it would be good for me to return home.

‘The most important thing is to find an ambitious club. I would love to experience something different.’
