Two of Arsenal’s midfielders have been in the papers today as both Cesc Fabregas and Alex Song have been involved in more transfer news. Fabregas has apparently told Arsene Wenger that he still wants to join Barcelona this summer while its understood that Galatasaray have had an ambitious £4m offer for Alex Song turned down.

Cesc still wants Barca move

Arsenal captain Cesc Fabregas has once again told Arsene Wenger he wants to join Barcelona after fresh talks with his manager, according to a report in the Daily Mail. Cesc first expressed his desire to leave in a meeting with Wenger last month and his boss told the 23-year-old to leave it with him and concentrate on the World Cup. Now the Daily Mail claims that Fabregas has spoken to Wenger once more and underlined his intention to join Barcelona this summer and wants Arsenal to press ahead with negotiations.

However, its understood that Wenger is ready to stand his ground and continue to refuse to sell despite his captains wishes. Barcelona have continually expressed their interest in public with several players commenting in the media about their wish for Cesc to join them in Spain. The Catalans have already had a derisory offer of £29m turned town for the Spain’s midfielder but are set to return with an improved bid of £35m by the end of the month after the £25m sale of Yaya Toure to Manchester City goes through.

Galatasaray bid for Song

Galatasaray have failed in an ambitious attempt to sign Arsenal midfielder Alex Song after having a £4m bid rejected, according to the Daily Mail. The Cameroonian has improved greatly over the last 18 months and was an important part of Arsenal’s midfield last season, playing in 36 games for the Gunners. His versatility is also an asset as he was used as a centre back at times

Galatasaray’s offer was never going to be seriously considered by Arsenal, as £4m for a 23-year-old who is highly regarded by the club was never realistic. Arsene Wenger is a bid admirer of Song and even believes he could have been the premier leagues most improved player last season, saying, “He’s not far, certainly…I don’t have others in mind. But he has real quality.”
