Soren Lerby – Wesley Sneijder Staying At Inter Milan

Manchester United and Manchester City look set to miss out on Wesley Sneijder, with Sky Sports News reporting that the midfielder will remain at Inter Milan.

With under two weeks remaining of the January transfer window rumours of potential deals are increasing by the day.

However, one player who looks unlikely to move this month is Wesley Sneijder, with Sky Sports News reporting that the midfielder will remain at Inter Milan.

Manchester United were reported to be close to signing Sniejder for £35m in the summer (source: Daily Mail) but the deal failed to materialise and he remained in Italy.

As January approached United were again being linked with a move for the Dutchman, while rivals Manchester City were also being linked with a potential swap deal involving want-a-way striker Carlos Tevez.

However, Sky Sports News quote Soren Lerby, the players agent, as saying that he feels his client will now see out the remainder of the season with Inter and is unlikely to move on this month.

“I really think that Wesley will remain at Inter, because a few weeks ago he said he was 90 per cent sure that he would stay.” He told calciomercato.com:

“Why didn’t he say 100 per cent? He wasn’t trying to hide any problems he has with the club or the coach, or any offers from other clubs. He left a small percentage, because in football anything can happen.

“For that same season, I would answer in the same way when asked about his future.”

These quotes are unlikely to stop the gossip columns linking United and City with a move for Sniejder until the window shuts, but it does seem likely that Sniejder will remain with Milan until the summer at least.
