Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp could be set for a late transfer boost with un-wanted duo Giovani Dos Santos and Roman Pavlyuchenko linked with moves away from the club.

Spurs fans are hopeful Redknapp can sign a new striker before the window shuts in order to help maintain their title push, and this would be far more likely if at least one of Dos Santos or Pavlyuchenko were to leave this month.

The Sun are reporting today that Spanish duo Villarreal and Granada are interested in signing Dos Santos, while Pavlyuchenko is on the radar of Lokomotiv Moscow.

Mexican Dos Santos has failed to impress at White Hart Lane since his move from Barcelona in 2008, making just 15 starts for the first team. Villarreal vice-president Jose Manuel Llaneza is quoted by the Sun as confirming talks with Tottenham are underway and claiming Dos Santos would like to join them:

“The negotiations are going well and it seems the player wants to come to Villarreal.”

The report also has Granada club president Quique Pina as saying that they are the only Spanish side to make a formal offer for the 22-year-old attacker, but he’s wary that another club could gazump their offer:

“We are the only Spanish club that has made a formal offer for him.

“But we are running out of days before the end of the transfer window and it could be that another club will come in tomorrow with more money.

“There are players out there of a high level and we found difficulty bringing them to Granada.

“We are fighting as hard as we can and at this moment and we are in a good position over Giovani so long as another club does not get involved.

“It’s logical that the player wants to play for more important clubs but if there isn’t a better offer it will be difficult for him to go to another club.”

Should Dos Santos and/or Pavlyuchenko leave in the coming days, Redknapp would then have funds to strengthen his title-chasing squad with, and a replacement striker would surely be high on the agenda if these two were to depart.
