As we approach the final days of the January transfer window, fans are hoping their clubs will be making some late moves in the market.

Chelsea have been one of the most active clubs so far in what has been a very quiet window, with Gary Cahill already snapped up by Andre Villas-Boas while the BBC report that they’re also in talks to sign Genk midfielder Kevin de Bruyne.

Now they may be edging closer to another signing after Shakhtar Donetsk midfielder Willian told SunSport that he wants to join Chelsea this month.

It was revealed two days ago by Sky Sports that the Blues had a £16.7m bid for the Brazilian turned down, with Shakhtar Donestsk CEO Sergei Palkin insisting the player was not for sale.

It seems this refusal to do business has prompted Willian to try and force through a deal by telling the Sun he wants the chance to challenge for trophies and join one of the biggest clubs in the world. The 23-year-old said:

“They have a culture of winning trophies and that excites me.”

“Chelsea are known as one of the biggest and most successful clubs around.

“To play for them is a challenge I would accept and enjoy.

“If a deal doesn’t go through, I’ll understand. But I hope it happens.”
