2011/12 Transfer Table – How Much Did Your Club Spend?

Here’s an infographic that illustrates the transfer spend of all 20 Premier League clubs during the summer 2011 & January 2012 transfer windows. Very informative

The January transfer window has now firmly slammed shut and managers won’t have the opportunity to add to their squads until the summer window opens.

It was an extremely quiet month, not just in the Premier League, but across the whole of Europe. It seems the global economic crisis has finally caught-up with football.

We came across an interesting infographic over at BarriesView, which shows the combined spend by Premier League clubs in the summer 2011 and January 2012 transfer windows. The graphic was compiled by PremiershipTips.com using statistics and data from the Telegraph and Deloitte.

It makes for pretty interesting reading. Its no surprise to see Man City and Chelsea topping the table, closely followed by Man Utd and Liverpool. However, Arsenal coming in at 5th place will surprise some fans out there. Many Gooners have been bemoaning the lack of spending by Arsene Wenger in recent transfer windows. However, according to the data here, Wenger spent over £43m on new players this season. It must be noted though, that the graphic doesn’t show money generated from transfer sales, which would also be a sizeable amount for the Gunners after the sales of Cesc Fabregas and Samir Nasri.

Another surprise may be Tottenham Hotspur, who spent the least out of all 20 top-flight clubs. Despite this, Harry Redknapp’s men are still up there challenging for the title. Impressive stuff.

What do you make of the data? Should your club have spent more? Was the money spent wisely? Please leave your opinions in the comments section below…
