FABREGAS: “I never said i will definitely leave Arsenal”

Spain

By Fab4.

Cesc Fabregas has given Arsenal fans hope that he will still remain at the club after claiming he has never said that he ‘will definitely leave Arsenal’. Fabregas has been at the centre of a transfer battle this summer as Barcelona have aggressively tried to lure the Spaniard back to Catalunia. Arsenal rejected their opening bid of £29m two weeks ago and it seemed certain that new Barca president Sandro Rosell would return with an improved offer.

Many thought it was simply a matter of time before the two clubs agreed a fee and Cesc would be heading ‘home’ to Barca. Fabregas has remained tight-lipped on his future until now, but his comments must surely cast doubt on any move this summer. According to the Mirror, Fabregas says anything is possible and is proud to be Arsenal captain.

“I haven’t said that I will definitely leave Arsenal. Everything is possible. Now I have my head and my focus on the World Cup.”I am very pride to be captain of Arsenal and I love the club and have respect for them. It gave me such pride to be made captain.”

Some cynics will say that Cesc has been put off a move after being given a taste of what life could be like warming the Barca bench, as he has not started a game for Spain yet at the World Cup and is being kept out the team by Xavi, Iniesta and Busquets, and all play for Barcelona. The fact that Cesc goes on to talk about his passion for playing and not sitting on the bench may suggest he has had a change of heart, for the time being at least.

“I always want to play. I’m not used to sitting on the bench and I want to be playing at this World Cup.

“I’m always competitive at everything – even on the PlayStation. But that’s my desire to win and I have that even in training.

“I’ve never been a player happy to settle for what I have, I always want more. I respect the coach’s decision.

“I know to be in midfield is going to be difficult because we have a lot of good players but I will never give up.

“I’ve won a lot of caps but if I’ve not played three quarters of the game then it’s not so valuable to me.

“I still don’t think my best time for Spain has arrived and I still must carry on working to improve.”

If I’m honest i had already come to terms with Cesc leaving this summer but now i honestly think his time sitting on the Spanish bench may have given him a reality check. Barcelona’s side will be just as difficult to get into as the national team, if not harder, and Fabregas enjoys being the main-man for Arsenal. He certainly won’t be the main-man for Barca.
