Cole’s agent suggests it’s Arsenal or Spurs

Joe Cole’s agent has denied his client is bound for Italy and hinted that his likely destination will be either Arsenal or Tottenham. Speculation today suggested Cole could be on the verge of joining AC Milan but speaking to ESPN Soccernet, Cole’s agent David Giess says a move away from England was “pure speculation” and claims champions league football is still of vital importance to his client.

“Football is the most important thing to Joe and continuing to play in the Champions League is high on his priorities.”

Given that Cole has just been released by premier league champions Chelsea, and Manchester United appeared to withdraw from the race last week, it leaves only Arsenal and Tottenham able to offer Cole champions league football.

Several media reports have also suggested that Cole and his wife Carly are keen to remain in London to keep their new baby near their families, so everything now points to a head-to-head battle between North London rivals Arsenal and Tottenham for Cole’s signature. Cole and his family are away on holiday leaving David Giess to negotiate transfer dealings.

We don’t need him at Arsenal. We already have Nasri, Arshavin, Walcott, Chamakh and Van Persie who do or can do exactly the same job. He may be free but that doesn’t mean we should sign him for the sake of it. A keeper and at least two centre halves are our top priorities!

It wouldn’t be a bad signing wierdo, can never have too many class players.

What’s the point of having three or four players who do the same job when you can only play one or two at a time? And which of those players is gonna be happy to sit on the bench? If two were happy to be back up players then fine but neither Arshavin, Cole, Walcott or Nasri are gonna be happy on the bench. Maybe think about what you say before you say it….

On the other hand, letting him go to one of our rivals possibly strenghening them doesn’t sound too wise to me either. I’d say sign him if he isn’t commanding a massive wage package! Who knows maybe someone is on his way out of Arsenal…

    A few things:
    1. his agent never said he will stay in England.
(i don’t know where everyone gets this info from)
    2. just because his priority is the Champions League it doesn’t mean that he will sign for a club that plays in the Champions League this year, maybe for a club that qualifies next year.
    3. Who said Man U is not in the race? Hmm, i believe NO ONE.

Joe Cole is a better player than Nasri, Arshavin & Walcott. Chamak & RVP are strikers so not relevant to compare them. He would walk into the Goon team but he is more likely to join Spurs due to Harry & all our English players. Modric & Cole will run riot at the Library next season! COYS!

spurs are weak – bottom line – they don’t even have a brand of footballl & are 11 yrs behind Arsenal. Champs league will see them get slaughtered!

Danny – how can you think that he does the same job as Chamakh and Van Persie?

Madness, that’s like saying Diaby and Sagna do the same job.

Danny Boy, your strange, what did them ot win arsenal last season? nothing, and with the loss of fabregas, arsenal need as much help as they can get, cole is ruthless, and has the winning experience arsenal lack… its great saying they will win something, they just need time… well the longer it takes the harder it is going to get, and arsenal keep getting further away from wining things because of the simple fact that they have no winning experince, JOE COLE PROVIDES THAT!!! not chamakch!! arsenal are screwed with out fabregas!!
    UNITED FOREVER!! 18 league titles!

    Spurs boy you say
cole for spurs because weve got more of the england then anyone in the PL

After that world cup embarrassment are you having English players in your team is not something to be proud of. Funny that this year the England team had more spurs players in it then ever before and gave the worst team performance than ever before.

Joe Cole could hardly get any playing time in the worst England team ever to play at the World Cup. I don’t want him. Let Spurs have him (if they get through the qualifiers). They specialise in overrated English egos in decline.

By the way guys he would also sleep walk into the Spurs team. 😀 That’s good too, that’s all Spurs keep doing the entire season. Sleepwalking till the season’s end only to hide themselves on the St. Totteringham’s Day.

Well this was always going to be a messy one wasn’t it?
The level of some gooners arrogance never fails to astonish me, and makes me feel sorry only for the arsenal fans that arent brain damaged.
The spurs boys didnt get a propper look in for England everyone knows that!
I dont think either team NEED him.
Regardless of years past i cant see a lot in it between Spurs and arse.
The next season is going to be very interesting, and lets face it. . .
Man city arent mucking about. Whilst we squabble over Cole they’re happily plucking some great players and plotting a very successful prem 10/11 season.

It’s not exactly like Chelsea busted a gut to keep him. And United came out as soon as they were linked and said they’re not interested. Do you think you all might be slightly overrating him like people do with all English players? A decent player he is, but he’s not all that. He’s about right for Tottenham’s level.
