Arsenal take on Wolves at Molineux tonight knowing victory will extend their lead over Tottenham to five points.

Both Spurs and Chelsea slipped up on Monday, with Norwich getting a shock win at White Hart Lane and Fulham holding Chelsea to a 1-1 draw at Craven Cottage, so we can go a long way to securing third place with a win tonight.

We’ll be playing the league’s most out-of-form side in Wolves, who have lost their last six games and are rooted at the bottom of the league table. However, it’s worth remembering they held us to a 1-1 draw at the Emirates in December so we can’t take them too lightly or there will be a repeat of the QPR result here.

It’s time for focus, professionalism and ruthlessness. Let’s win our next two games against Wolves and Wigan and we will be in great shape heading into the game against Chelsea.

Team News

Wolves will continue to be without Stephen Hunt, Jamie O’Hara and Jody Craddock who remain on the treatment table. Terry Connor is expected to recall Kevin Doyle after leaving him out against Stoke at the weekend.

Roger Johnson is likely to miss out again with Richard Stearman continuing alongside Sebastian Bassong at centre back.

Arsene Wenger is going to be forced into making changes at the back with Kieran Gibbs and Laurent Koscielny both ruled out. Gibbs was forced off during Sunday’s win over Man City with a slight groin problem, so Andre Santos will come in.

Koscielny picked up his 10th booking of the season so starts a two-match ban, Johan Djourou is likely to play alongside Thomas Vermaelen at the back.

Long-term injury victims Jack Wilshere, Per Mertesacker, Emmanuel Frimpong, Francis Coquelin and Abou Diaby are all still out.

I’d like to see Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain given a start tonight as he’s been dropped to the bench in recent weeks. Yossi Benayoun did very well against City and there is every chance Wenger will continue with him on the left, but personally i’d like to see the Oxe given a start.

Predicted Score

Wolves are in terrible form and look certain for the drop, while Arsenal have won eight out of nine and have the momentum. We have also not lost to the hosts since 1979 and i predict this run to continue tonight and the Gunners to move five clear of Spurs. Wolves 0-2 Arsenal.
