Ivanovic - Madrid target

Real Madrid are interested in signing Chelsea defender Branislav Ivanovic this summer, according to the Daily Mirror.

The report claims that Madrid are on the look-out for a new defender and Jose Mourinho has identified the Serbian international as a potential target this summer. Even if Mourinho leaves Real the Spanish giants will still try and pursue a deal with a bid in the region of £12m.

Ivanovic has been one of Chelsea’s most consistent performers this season playing predominantly at right back, so it’s highly unlikely they would be interested in selling, but whether the player himself would be keen is a different story.

The 28-year-old is set to miss this weekends FA Cup semi final against Tottenham after being charged with violent conduct by the FA after an off-the-ball incident with Shaun Maloney during Saturday’s 2-1 win over Wigan, and is now facing a three match ban.
