Bayern Munich vs Real Madrid Preview: Team News, Likely Line-ups & Predicted Score

By on April 17, 2012

Bayern Munich welcome giants Real Madrid to the Allianz Arena on Tuesday night for the first leg of their Champions League semi final.

Bayern have the added incentive of potentially playing the final at their home ground, but will have to negotiate past Jose Mourinho’s Real Madrid if they are to book a place in the final at the Allianz Arena on the 19th May.

Many are predicting, and also wanting, a Barca vs Madrid final though and Jupp Heynckes has the unenviable task of stopping a free-scoring Real side if they are to prevent that from happening.

Both sides have virtually cruised into the semi final stages. Bayern topped a tricky group before thrashing both Basil and Marseille, while Madrid also topped their group before making easy work of CSKA Moscow and APOEL Nicosia, so this is certainly a battle of two in-form sides.

Team News

Bayern will recall Philip Lahm, Frank Ribery and Mario Gomez after the trio were rested for the weekend draw with Mainz. Manager Heynckes is once again able to call upon the services of Bastian Schweinsteiger despite the midfielder being a slight doubt for the game. Daniel van Buyten and Breno are both ruled out through injury.

Jose Mourinho will recall Karim Benzema and Angel Di Maria after the pair were left on the bench for the win over Gijon on Saturday. Gonzalo Higuin is likely to make way along with youngster Jose Callejon.

Kaka is also pushing for a start but could well miss out with Ozil preferred in the middle. Xabi Alonso will return after serving a domestic suspension, while Lassana Diarra and Ricardo Carvalho are both out with injuries.

Predicted Score

Munich have an excellent home record against the Spanish giants, having won 8 out of their 9 previous meetings and drawing the other. The Germans are formidable at the Allianz Arena having won all six European games their this season, but will face an equally impressive Madrid side who are unbeaten in this seasons Champions League and have conceded just six goals.

We predict a close game that will end up a stalemate. Bayern Munich 1-1 Real Madrid.

Great news for Madrid fans. Good move by Jose Mourinho. Ivanovic & Carvalho wil make a perfect combination in the back 4 for Mourinho’s team, considering the fact that both players are strong on the ball, which i think suites the kind of Mourinho’s play. Chelsea as a team, has realy not done too well in the recent times. Less than 6 matches to go and currently out of the top 4 in the EPL. The big question is, can Chelsea survive the huge sale-out come next season?
