Frimpong Blasts – Song Deserved Player of the Year Place, Not Parker

Arsenal’s Emmanuel Frimpong has blasted the PFA’s decision to select Tottenham’s Scott Parker ahead of team mate Alex Song in the Player of the Year shortlist.

Arsenal midfielder Emmanuel Frimpong has blasted the PFA’s decision to overlook team mate Alex Song for the Player of the Year Awards shortlist, claiming he deserved to be in ahead of Tottenham’s Scott Parker.

The PFA announced the six-man shortlist for the Player of the Year Award on Monday, with red-hot favourite Robin van Persie selected along with Joe Hart, Sergio Aguero, David Silva, Wayne Rooney and Tottenham’s Scott Parker.

However, Arsenal’s injured youngster Frimpong used his official Twitter account to express his displeasure that Parker was included ahead of Alex Song.

Frimpong started by calling the decision ‘utter nonsense’ before suggesting it may have been based on the fact Parker was English. He then tweeted saying that although Parker is a fine player, Song was better due to his influence in the final third before re-tweeting a followers stats showing Parker having provided 0 goals and 0 assists this season compared to Song’s 1 goal and 14 assists:
