Diaby Out For The Season With Fresh Injury – Time To Give Up On Him?

By on April 30, 2012

Abou Diaby

Arsenal midfielder Abou Diaby is set to miss the rest of the season after picking up a thigh strain during the Gunners 1-1 draw with Stoke on Saturday, according to the Daily Mirror.

Diaby has endured a torrid season that has been plagued by a series of injuries, and has only managed five substitute appearances so far this campaign.

The Frenchman had only just returned from a hamstring strain when he came on as a second half sub against the Potters, but his injury jinx stuck again as he limped off the pitch at full time.

The Mirror suggests that Diaby will miss Arsenal’s last two games with Norwich and West Brom and is now a major doubt for this summers Euro’s. The report also claims that the 25-year-old has told friends he’s concerned about the seriousness of his latest injury but will be assessed by Arsenal’s medical team before any official prognosis is announced.

After his worst season at the Emirates, with only five substitute appearances, surely Arsene Wenger must be considering Diaby’s future at Arsenal? Despite having the potential to be a top player, he’s become a liability. The only problem may be finding a buyer who’s willing to pay his high wages and take on a player with such a disastrous injury record.

What do Arsenal fans think? Is it time to give up on Diaby? Get involved in the comments section.

What is the point in keeping this injury prone player, he can only manage at most 10-20 minutes then is out injured for months & months, sell him along with all the other dead wood that we currently have and get them off our wage bill.

No doubt,he need to be shown the way out even if its on mutual consent that it nobody agrees to buy him as low as £1m so as create room for a more reliable asset than keeping a liability

The problem is with Arsenal’s medical team..why we have the worst injured record in the EPL, I bet there’s something wrong here

I really hoped this was it this time! Finally got Diaby back which could carry us until the end of season, but nope! once again … injured !

If we cant sell him, then sort out a deal where he gets paid a minimum basic wage and a pay per play bonus …

Stay in Spain … dick head. He was terribly injured not by a tackle but by common assault by a young lunatic from Sunderland. His ankle was broken and dislocated. I look forward to a similar injury to yourself followed by how many years it might take your body to adjust ?? You just stick to bribing referees and how is the diving coaching going ?

Send him out on loan for a season. honestly henri lansbury would have given us far more this year. with eisfeld henderson ozyakup not far behind henri i say let diaby go on loan free up a place in the 25 man squad. we cannot afford to carry all these long term injuries next season. everyone will strengthen this summer and we must too.

Diaby at his best is a top, top midfielder believe you me, It’s not his fault he gets injured.
If it wasn’t for that tackle at Sunderland I think we could all be asking Vieira who? give the boy a chance I think he will be one of our key players next season

Nope.. Sell him.. If m’vila or whoever comes in then I see no point keeping diaby.. A liability and he just take up a space that some youngsters like Lansbury could occupy.. Throw him out please..

It is time to let Diaby go! He has contributed very little to the Arsenal cause in the last 3 years. Let him go and bring in Hernanes & Vortengen!

I hate to say it guys. I have made it big since living in Cardiff and now trialing with Barca’s youth Academy has made me a better player, mentally and physically. So do not lecture me on how he broke his ankle, ok it is unfortunate but how does he expect to be the average player he is with the support he is provided through Arsenal FC. I have seen Tello and Cuenca move through the ranks since I have been here and our Academy football would be likened very much to the quality of Arsenal. You’re all haters about me making it big. Miguel NO. 10. Barcelona. REMEMBER the name. If you are wondering why I have a Spanish related name, my father is spanish and comes from Madrid. You’re all so pathetic.

This is a high profile expensive business we`re in and whilst compassion and consideration must be given when at all possible we must also realize it is not a welfare organization and these guys are not on peanuts. Finding another club will be difficult and we have to honour his contract so I can`t see him moving until that is completed.

Much of the `deadwood` we carry is a result of bargin basement purchases, now we pay the price.

  22. Aussie Jack

    April 30, 2012 at 10:34 pm

Let me just add that I don`t consider Diaby `deadwood` he`s just very unlucky in a highly competitive world.
