Arsenal & Liverpool Check In On £15m Rated Moroccan Winger

By  Published: 1st May 2012

With the summer transfer window almost upon us, we’ll aim to keep you up-to-date on all the latest transfer news. Today sees Arsenal and Liverpool linked with with an attacking midfielder.

Younes-Belhanda

Liverpool have joined Arsenal in the race for highly-rated Montpellier winger Younes Belhanda, according to the Metro.

Belhanda has become one of the most sought-after talents in Ligue 1 after an impressive season with Montpellier, scoring 11 goals in just 27 appearances so far.

This form has alerted both Arsenal and big-spending PSG, who have scouted the player in recent months, but the Metro claim that Liverpool have also joined the list of suitors after Kenny Dalglish and Steve Clarke made a personal scouting trip last week.

The Reds duo joined Arsenal scout Gilles Grimandi in the stands on Friday night to watch the Moroccan international impress as he scored the winner in a 1-0 victory over Toulouse  to move Montpellier 5 points clear of PSG and on course to seal the Ligue 1 title.

Belhanda is expected to leave the champions-elect this summer and the Metro claim PSG are going to open the bidding at £15m for the 22-year-old, but the report claims that Montpellier owner Louis Nicollin would prefer to sell the player abroad, even if it meant accepting a lower fee, leaving the Premier League duo to battle it out for his signature.

Not happening; KD ‘don’t back France based players & by this time I am sure, non British players have understood that there is no future form them in LFC, as long as KD is there.

Belhanda is a real quality player, could have played for France as well, may be even in this Euro, but instead of Zizu, he took the Mustapha Hazi way. Good luck to him at the Emeritus.

how exactly may belhanda play for france in this euro when he is a capped moroccan international who played in the african cup of nations earlier?

Saw him play at The African Cup of Nations and he was nothing special. A typical Dalglish signing in the making. We dont need him nor do we want him at The Emirates.

We won’t win much … get used to it. Sorry we are used to it. Kroenke’s sports clubs in N. America (or his son’s) are well run businesses but don’t win much. My suspicion is Kroenke milks the fanbases. Grid iron, ice hockey, baseball, soccer, basket ball, lacrosse (!)

We need trophies and before we can trophies we need classic players…it should be a shameful thing of A.W that for 8season now without a trophy is a disgrace to his name and the club…Players we leave arsenal for other clubs are happy now..Nasri,Fabregas,helb and others are happy..Tell that Man to change his policies so as to win trophies for the club…
