The long awaited transfer saga involving Eden Hazard looks to be over after the player confirmed he’s set to join Chelsea this summer.
The Lille ace has been at the centre of a very public transfer battle between most of Europe’s top clubs in recent months after confirming he’ll be on the move this summer following another impressive season, where he scored 20 goals and racked up 16 assists.
The 21-year-old revealed in March that he’d decided on a move to the Premier League, with media outlets such as ESPN claiming the likes of Arsenal, Man Utd, Man City, Chelsea and Tottenham were all vying for his services.
It became apparent that Chelsea, Man Utd and Man City were the leading clubs and it was down to the player to decide his preferred destination. Hazard teased fans on Monday morning by Tweeting that he had made his mind up and rumours circulated that he would be revealing the lucky side later in the day.
Those rumours have come to fruition after the Belgian forward used his official Twitter account on Monday night to reveal he will be joining Chelsea, saying:
“I’m signing for the champions league winner”
No official confirmation has come from Chelsea as yet, but it’s expected the transfer will be completed in the coming days. The Guardian report that Chelsea will pay £32m to Lille and Hazard has agreed a 5-year deal worth over £100,000-a-week.
