Arsenal Transfer News: Gunners Linked With £6m Bid For Midfielder

Arsenal will make an opening bid of £6m for Blackburn midfielder Steven N’Zonzi, if reports in the Mirror are to be believed.
The report claims that Arsene Wenger is keen to strengthen his squad this summer and add to the signing of Lukas Podolski. Midfield is believed to be an area of concern for Wenger and N’Zonzi is on a three-man wish-list that also includes Javi Martinez of Athletic Bilbao, and Rennes’ Yann M’Vila.
Both Martinez and M’Vila would cost a lot more than N’Zonzi, and the Mirror say that the Gunners have already made enquiries to Rovers regarding the giant midfielder. The 23-year-old impressed for Blackburn last season, despite their relegation from the Premier League, and his power and physical presence is understood to appeal to Wenger.

The French under 21 international has three years remaining on his contract but is keen for a move back to the Premier League and Arsenal are ready to test Rovers resolve with a £6m bid.
Verdict
At 6ft 4 inches, there is no doubt N’Zonzi would add a presence to Arsenal’s midfield that many say has been lacking in recent years and there will be the obvious comparisons made with Patrick Vieira, should he move to the Emirates.
I’d be a little underwhelmed if we got N’Zonzi after being strongly linked with the likes of M’Vila and Martinez, but who would be surprised if Arsene turned his attention away from those expensive targets in favour of the more economically friendly N’Zonzi?

Arsenal board are a joke, charging some of the highest season tickets in Europe and in return Arsenal fans have to watch players like Almunia, Bentdner, Denilson, Squillaci, Vela, Djourou, Ramsey. It’s obviously going to be 8 years without silverware. A top 4 club like us persuing cheap under £10mil players to keep fans satisfied. Well it’s not working. We want to see quality like Giroud, Vertonghen, M’Vila, Dempsey, Hoillet, Llorente, Belhanda etc
That’s why we need Stan Kroenke OUT and Usmanov IN. Usmanov has promised he will provide all the funds needed to make Arsenal Champions League winners if he is granted a seat on the board. He won’t buy a whole team of 11 quality players, he will buy 1 or 2 world class players in the areas we lack quality in order to make Arsenal genuine title contenders next season.
5 of those players didnt even play for us last season and a few of them havent for a while now. We have high ticket prices because we have a wonderful stadium that we are paying up. If usmanov gets a seat on the board then it could spell disaster for us. I dont want to buy the league like City or chelsea. I want to win it the right way.

I think it’s time now for Arsenal to invest in top quality players. Football is changing & the best thing to do is to adjust. I’ll prefer to see M’Villa or the Bilbao man who all have better football experiences than Nzonzi whom only has been playing in England. We would always fail when we dont plan well. Whenever we play in Europe, we meet tough challenges & yet we keep pampering & consoling ourselves. I think we’re not being serious. We also need fast players who can launch counter attacks & defend counter attacks. That has also been a major problem. We launch counter attacks but our players are not fast enough to defend counter attacks. These should all be the criteria behind signing players. Thanks

I think it would be great to sign n’zonzi for only 6m but I would also like to see m’villa at the club and dempsey and giroud will be more good signings then a CB I think vertoghon but he might move to tottenham.

everyone is talking about bringing in players lets say we get our wishes and Giroud come in. we have Giroud, RVP, Podolski, Campbell, Chamack, Park, Bendtner, Vela, Ox, TW, Gervi, Miyachi, Lansbury, Arshavin, all fighting for that three spot up front lets say we sell Vela, Bendtner, Arshavin and Chamack we still have 8 guys we are paying without them playing, in that case the English Cup is given, but come on guys
our midfield with Arteta fit and Wilshere coming in we know Song has a place, what does that say to guys like Frimpong, Coquelin, with Nzonzi, M’Villa, and Martinez or De Jong possibily coming in our team becomes a rich cup buying team

I still prefer Wenger’s old policy of buying 1 or 2 marquee player per season. It is this policy that bring us the doubles and the invincble unbeaten season.

I don’t agree that investing big is just the answer. look at Torres(50m), Carrol(30),Henderson(20m), De Gea(18m), Dzeko(25m), etc. arsenal need to strengthen the teem what ever the price of the player is. Nzonzi can be a decent squad player for arsenal. with 6m pounds he will be a very good addition to the team. look at arsenal’s results whenever Arteta didn’t play. we need a defensive midfielder who sits back whenever the team attacks. It’s on counters and set pieces that arsenal mostly concede goals and Nzonzi at 6ft4 can help in both.

Hi gunners, it is high time we call a spade a spade. Arsene Wenger is Arsenal’s problem, period! When clubs are trying hard to sign world class players, Mr Wenger is busy talking about N’zonzi, haha. We need a good striker to complement the efforts of Robin van persie. Well, to that end he has gotten Lukas Podolski (unlike him), good, but where is the guarantee that RVP stays? Surely he will be in the Ettihad stadium come next season leaving podolski all alone. It pains me but that is true, arsenal has become a youth academy or better still, a feeder team for Manchester City! But who is to blame if not Wenger? Another big problem of arsenal is one young welsh player called Aaron Ramsey. I wonder why this guy is still putting on the arsenal colors. Most of arsenal’s woes last season were the single handiwork of this welsh man that seems to have made a solemn promise to himself not to learn from past mistakes. His flops against Swansea are particularly fresh in my mind. Arsenal need a world class midfielder like Giroud and Mvilla to join forces with Arteta and Wilshere. Ramsey should go! Above all Mr Arsene Wenger should be encouraged to do anything possible to keep RVP and he shouldn’t miss out on getting Yossi Benayoun as Chelsea is only asking for £1m. Indeed these are the kind of cheap players he likes especially as Yossi is an asset not a liability like his favored ramsey. Wenger i Love you please make me happy at least for one season
