Liverpool Line Up £15m Bid For Daniel Sturridge

Liverpool are lining up a £15m bid for Chelsea striker Daniel Sturridge, with new Anfield boss Brendan Rodgers keen to replace Dirk Kuyt with the Blues attacker

The summer transfer window is open and Football Talk will bring you all the latest transfer news. Today, Liverpool are linked with a move for a Chelsea attacker.

Daniel Sturridge

Liverpool are lining up a £15m bid for Chelsea striker Daniel Sturridge, according to the Daily Star.

The report claims that new Reds boss Brendan Rodgers has identified the attacker as a key signing this summer and is prepared to pay £15m for the 22-year-old.

Rodgers needs to replace Dutch forward Dirk Kuyt, who left the club for Fenerbache last week, and the Anfield boss see’s Sturridge as the man for the job.

The Blues attacker had an excellent start to the 2011/12 season and was widely being tipped for a place in the England squad for Euro 2012.

However, his form faded badly in the second half of the season and despite being a regular under former Chelsea manager Andre Villas-Boas, Sturridge soon found himself on the bench when Roberto Di Matteo took charge.

FT Verdict

Not totally convinced by this one. Liverpool have been linked with Sturridge in the past but there is very little substance to the Daily Star’s story.

That’s not t say there may not be genuine interest from Liverpool, but the Daily Star don’t know much about it if there is.
